The response and interest we’ve received since announcing our April 2024 Viking Rhine Getaway group cruise has been overwhelming. Thank you to everyone for your interest! We’ve also received several questions about the cruise, so we thought we’d put the most frequent ones in one post.

The most frequent question or comment we receive is some version of “I wish I could go on a cruise, but I’m afraid I will get motion sickness.” The good news is that there are very few waves on a river cruise, unlike an ocean cruise. The motion of the ship on a river cruise is very similar to what you would have in a typical car. Also, Viking Longships’ award-winning design cuts down on motion even further.

When is the cruise? This cruise leaves Amsterdam on Wednesday, April 10th. Many of the people in our group are flying out on Monday the 8th and spending an extra day sightseeing before the cruise begins. Viking has other options available if this particular date does not work with your schedule.

When do I have to make a decision on joining you? Well, we don’t know exactly. However, we DO know that the ship is filling up and the popular staterooms are becoming limited. We suggest putting a downpayment sooner rather than later to secure your stateroom.

We get this one a lot: How much does it cost? The answer is, that depends. It depends on the type of stateroom you choose. It also depends on the discounts Viking is offering at the time. Currently, Viking is offering a discount on most staterooms, and also offering deep discounts on flights. These discounts are not guaranteed to last. What we can tell you is that we haven’t seen flights this inexpensive in a long, long time.

Are excursions included in the price? Yes! Viking includes one excursion in every port on the Rhine Getaway (and all other Viking River Cruises). There are 6 port stops in all. Also, there is an option to choose other non-included excursions. These may come with an extra cost.

What’s the benefit of joining your group? The biggest one, discounts! There is an exclusive discount for anyone that joins our group. Another benefit is that we will be there with you! Have questions, concerns, or issues? We are right there to handle all needs immediately.

How do I book? That’s easy. We do it for you! We take all of your information and relay it to Viking to book your stateroom, flights, and any extras you may want. Having us book your trip is also the only way to take advantage of the group discount.

We have been asked multiple times Are individuals allowed to go on the cruise? The answer is yes, however, Viking has priced each of their staterooms for double occupancy, meaning any solo traveler would need to pay for double occupancy.

Can I book the cruise and flight through Viking but leave a few days early or stay a few days later? Yes you can! As a matter of fact, many of the group are flying a day early to avoid any issues if there is a flight delay and to also spend extra time sightseeing in Amsterdam.

Can Viking accommodate dietary restrictions? In most cases, yes. Every meal has vegetarian options, and onboard chefs will make reasonable efforts to accommodate special requests.

Can my children enjoy the cruise also? All guests must be 18 years old on or before the day they are scheduled to embark on the cruise.

Are meals and drinks included? All on-board meals are included. All beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are included at meal times. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase on-board. You may also pre-purchase a drink package for non-meal times. Juice, coffee, and tea are all available at all times.
